The Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) has appealed to business establishments within its jurisdiction to observe a voluntary half-day closure on December 18 in honour of its late president, Shikaho Zhimomi.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the WSH said the appeal applies to business establishments across Dimapur, Niuland and Chümoukedima districts. The Hoho said the voluntary closure is intended as a mark of honour and remembrance for the departed leader.

Describing the gesture as a collective expression of grief and solidarity, the WSH stated that the observance would reflect the community’s deep respect for a leader whose life was devoted to unity, integrity and the welfare of the people.

“With profound respect and heartfelt humility, we appeal to all business establishments within the Western Sümi jurisdiction to observe a voluntary half-day closure on December 18 as a mark of honour and remembrance for our departed president, Late Shikaho Zhimomi,” the statement said.

The Western Sümi Hoho also expressed appreciation to the business community for their understanding and cooperation during what it described as a solemn period of mourning.

The Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of its president, Eno Shikaho Zhimomi, who died on December 16 in Delhi while undergoing medical treatment.
In an official message of condolence, the WSH described his death as a profound and irreplaceable loss to the Sümi community and the wider Naga people. The Hoho said the late leader was a towering statesman, a principled leader, and a devoted servant whose life was anchored in integrity, humility, and an unyielding commitment to the welfare of the people.

“The Western Sümi Hoho stands in solemn grief and collective mourning at the passing of our esteemed and beloved president,” the statement said, adding that his leadership was defined by moral authority, quiet strength, wisdom, clarity of purpose, and an unrelenting pursuit of unity and harmony.

The WSH noted that during his tenure, Eno Shikaho Zhimomi consistently prioritized unity, harmony and collective interest over personal considerations. It stated that he carried responsibility with grace and worked tirelessly for brotherhood and understanding among the people. His leadership, the Hoho said, was not only administrative in nature but exemplary and firmly grounded in character and conviction.

Reflecting on the loss, the WSH said the legacy left behind by the departed leader would continue to guide and inspire future generations.

While acknowledging the pain of the loss, the WSH said it bowed to the sovereign will of Almighty God and took solace in faith, believing that the late president had completed his earthly journey with honor and dignity.

The Western Sümi Hoho extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, relatives and loved ones, and prayed for divine strength, comfort and peace for them during this time of sorrow.

Dimapur Sumi Council condoles
The Dimapur Sumi Council (DSC) has expressed deep shock and grief over the passing of Shikaho Zhimomi, president of the Western Sumi Hoho, who died in Delhi.

In a condolence message, the DSC described the late leader as a humble and compassionate individual whose dedication to public service would always be remembered. It stated that his simplicity, humility and concern for others had left a lasting impact on the community.

The council said Shikaho Zhimomi made significant efforts to promote peace and unity, not only among the Naga tribes but also with other communities. According to the statement, he was known for his ability to connect with people from all walks of life and was widely regarded as a gentleman and a humble leader.

“He led not by command but by example, and his legacy of humbleness and kindness will continue to inspire us always,” the council said.

The Dimapur Sumi Council extended its deepest sympathy to his wife, Mrs Vihuli Zhimomi, his children and other family members and relatives. It also prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family during this time of grief.

Ao Senden 
The Ao Senden has expressed deep shock and grief over the untimely demise of Eno Shikaho Zhimomi, president of the Western Sümi Hoho.

In a condolence message, the Ao Senden described the late leader as dynamic, dedicated, straightforward and selfless. It stated that he led a life committed to the service of the people and was known for his jovial and pleasant personality.

The Ao Senden said his passing has caused an irreparable loss to the Sümi community in particular and the Naga people in general. It noted that his contribution to society and his leadership qualities would be remembered with respect and gratitude.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, the Ao Senden said it stood with them during this period of profound loss and prayed that Almighty God would grant peace and comfort to the loved ones he has left behind.

The Ao Senden also prayed for the eternal rest of the departed leader’s soul.

NSCN/GPRN (R-Akato)
The NSCN/GPRN (R-Akato) has expressed sorrow over the passing of Shikaho Zhimomi, president of the Western Sumi Hoho.

In a condolence message, the group said the late leader leaves behind a legacy of truth, perseverance, tolerance, selflessness and inclusiveness.

“With his passing, the Sümis and Nagas in general have lost a great and tall leader whose shoe many may not fit. We also convey our deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and may they find solace at these difficult times,” it stated.

Western Chakhesang Hoho
The Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH) has expressed sorrow over the passing of Shikaho Zhimomi, president of the Western Sumi Hoho.

In a condolence message, the WCH said the late leader was known for integrity, firm principles and dedication to public service, which earned him respect and trust. It stated that his leadership was marked by a thoughtful approach and a consistent commitment to the welfare of society.
