The Konyak Union (KU) Headquarters, Mon, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of two NSCN-K (Ang Mai) cadres in Khamtiang Village, Pangsau area, Myanmar’s Naga Self-Administered Zone, on 9th January 2026.
Lieutenant Avi Pochury and Sergeant Peyao Konyak were killed, while another cadre sustained serious injuries in an alleged attack carried out by the NSCN-Yung Aung (YA) faction.

Expressing “profound anguish and outrage,” the KU said the attack was a grave betrayal of the shared sacrifices, history, and aspirations of the Naga people. The statement warned that internal conflicts weaken the Naga political movement, erode trust, and cause suffering among innocent civilians.
