International Women’s Day has been celebrated at the Public Ground in Kiphire on March 10. The programme was organised by My Bharat Kiphire in collaboration with the District Administration Kiphire, Sports Authority of India and Mission Shakti. The celebration was held as part of the ASMITA League under the Khelo India initiative.

Reigning Miss Kiphire, Tsurenshe L, attended the programme as a special invitee. She encouraged the participants to actively take part in sports at the local level and work hard to reach state and national competitions.

Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Kiphire, Kato Awomi, congratulated the participants and urged women to aim higher in life. He stated that sports competitions help identify young talents from the grassroots level and provide opportunities for growth. He also emphasised that such events send a strong message that girls are equally capable and deserve equal opportunities in sports and other fields.

In his keynote address, District Youth Officer Kiphire, Kishore Dulam, expressed happiness at celebrating Women’s Day through the ASMITA League. He said the initiative represents not only a sports competition but also a movement to empower women and encourage young girls to showcase their talents.

The event featured running races of 100 metres and 200 metres for girls in the categories of Under-13, 13–18, and above 18 years.
