The final of the 34th Mokokchung District Cricket Association (MDCA) Inter-Club Cricket Tournament has ended without a result after persistent rain forced the match to be called off at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex on March 14.

Titans CC captain Nihal Rai and United Brothers CC captain Merenkaba receive the MDCA Trophy after their teams were declared joint winners of the tournament.

With the final between Titans Cricket Club Mokokchung and United Brothers Cricket Club unable to proceed due to the weather, both teams were declared joint winners of the tournament. The two sides shared the prize pool of Rs 70,000.

The tournament, which began on March 9, featured five teams competing in a league format where each team played four matches. The top two teams at the end of the league stage qualified for the final.

Former champions Titans CC secured their place in the final with one match to spare after winning all three of their opening matches. United Brothers, the defending champions, advanced to the final on the basis of a superior net run rate after finishing level on points with Trubuchet CC, with both teams registering two wins from four matches.

Individual honours were also announced at the conclusion of the tournament. Merenkaba of United Brothers was named Best Batsman after scoring 161 runs and also claimed the Player of the Series award for his all-round performance, which included three wickets.

Moatemsu of Titans CC received the Best Bowler award with eight wickets, while Shamphri Terang of Tritons was adjudged the Best Wicketkeeper of the tournament.
