Nagaland has so far secured five medals at the ongoing 1st Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 in Chhattisgarh, comprising one gold, two silver, and two bronze.
On Thursday, Wede T Mero won the gold medal in the men’s 10,000 metres event, delivering a disciplined performance marked by strong endurance and effective race strategy.

Earlier, in athletics, Rüduolhounuo Rachel Belho claimed silver in the women’s 100 metres, while Tsuchoi T secured bronze in the women’s 5,000 metres.

Nagaland also recorded success in archery. The women’s compound team, comprising Lotsulu Sazo, Vetavolu Rhakho and Rovine Domeh, clinched a silver medal. The mixed recurve team of Ruovinuo Theünuo and Keneisao Theünuo secured bronze.
A 10-member track and field team represented Nagaland, displaying resilience and determination on the national stage. Nagaland archers remain in contention for two more medals, with results to be decided on April 3.
In the overall standings, Karnataka leads the medal tally, followed by Odisha and Jharkhand.
The performance marks a significant achievement for Nagaland and is expected to encourage aspiring athletes across the state.
