A session on the importance and application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in government departments was conducted at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall, Lok Bhavan, Kohima on April 8.

The programme was organised as part of SADHANA (Strengthening Adaptive Development and Humane Aptitude for National Advancement) Saptah, observed under Mission Karmayogi, in line with directives from the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India.
Officials from the Directorate of Information Technology and Communication, Government of Nagaland, Er. Daniel Krocha, Deputy Director, and Er. Akumla Aier, Senior Programme Officer, conducted the session and highlighted the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence in enhancing efficiency, transparency, and service delivery in government functioning.
Er. Daniel Krocha emphasized that Artificial Intelligence is not intended to replace human beings but to augment human capabilities. Referring to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, he said Nagaland’s young population presents a unique opportunity to drive technological advancement in alignment with national goals. He noted that AI can bridge long-standing gaps across sectors if used responsibly, stressing the need for human oversight in decision-making processes. He added that Nagaland has the potential to emerge as a model for ethical AI adoption.
Er. Akumla Aier highlighted key aspects of AI, describing generative AI as a “game changer” with transformative potential across sectors. She also stressed the importance of ethical practices and robust governance frameworks.
Officers and staff of the Governor’s Secretariat and Household Establishment attended the session. The welcome address was delivered by Under Secretary to the Governor, Kevingozo Visa, followed by a vote of thanks.
