The 27th Varsity Cultural and Literary Meet 2026 of the Nagaland University Students’ Union, Lumami, commenced on April 8 at I. Ihoshe Kinimi Hall with enthusiasm and a strong display of cultural spirit. The inaugural session began at 10:00 AM and was compered by Ikutsa Achumi and Moalemla Chang.

The programme opened with a prayer by Eziza Sumi, followed by an address by the Chief Guest, Dr. Abemo, Registrar of Nagaland University. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage while embracing modernity, encouraging students to remain rooted in their traditions while exploring new avenues of expression.
In the Presidential Address, Toito V. Zhimomi, President of NUSU (L), highlighted the collective aspirations of the student community. He underscored the importance of unity, creativity, and cultural pride, and urged students to actively participate and make full use of the platform provided by the varsity meet.
The session featured cultural performances, including a Western Group Song by AIU representatives, which added a contemporary musical element. A Wangala performance by “The Meghalayan” showcased the rich cultural traditions of the Northeast.
The inaugural session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ilhima H. Yeputhomi, followed by the Nagaland University Anthem and a closing prayer by Laam P. Lam, marking a meaningful start to the varsity meet.
