The NSS unit of Zisaji Presidency College (ZPC) organised an awareness programme at Okhe village on Tuesday as part of the 8th edition of Poshan Pakhwada 2026. The theme of the programme was “Maximizing Brain Development in the First Six Years of Life.”

The programme began with opening remarks by M. Leiwang Konyak, Programme Officer of the NSS unit. A total of 20 volunteers participated in the event.

Three volunteers spoke on important topics during the programme. Danglila highlighted the importance of mother and child nutrition. She explained that proper nutrition is essential during pregnancy, infancy and early childhood. She said pregnant mothers should eat healthy food and avoid harmful substances. She also stressed the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months and providing nutritious food to children as they grow.

Thingrila spoke on early stimulation for brain development, while Munguli L. Sangtam explained the role of parents and the community in reducing children’s screen time.

The programme was conducted by Khumtilong, an NSS volunteer, while the Head GB of Okhe village also delivered a short speech.

Following the programme, the volunteers carried out a cleanliness drive in the village.
