A district-level training programme for the first phase of Census of India 2027 commenced on Tuesday at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, while similar sessions were also held in Kiphire to prepare officials for the nationwide exercise.

In Kohima, the two-day programme organised by the Directorate of Census Operations, Nagaland, will continue till April 23, 2026. Administrative officers from Kohima and Tseminyu districts are attending the training to strengthen technical and operational capacity for the exercise.
Director of Census Operations, Nagaland, Dr. Zasikuolie Chusi, IAS, said Census 2027 will be conducted in a fully digital and paperless mode. He informed that the first phase, House Listing Operation, will begin from July 1, 2026, and stressed accurate enumeration, especially of vacant households, stating that “accurate data is essential for national planning and policy formulation.”
Deputy Commissioner Kohima B. Henok Buchem and Deputy Commissioner Tseminyu Japheth Woch urged officers to approach the exercise with responsibility and a problem-solving mindset.
The Kohima training covered Census Management and Monitoring System modules, legal provisions, mapping, fund management, self-enumeration, and documentation processes.
In Kiphire, training was held from April 20 to 22 under the Kohima-based Census team. Deputy Commissioner Temsuwati Longkumer urged participants to work with sincerity and diligence. Sessions covered roles of census functionaries, house listing operations, mapping, and CMMS operations. The programme concluded with a reflection and valedictory session.
