Personnel was on election duty; body to be taken to Changtongya
A jawan of the 11th Indian Reserve Battalion (IR), Nagaland Armed Police (NAP), identified as Imlikumzuk, died in a suspected train run-over incident on April 21 while on election duty in West Bengal.
According to sources, the incident occurred at around 4:00 pm.
Speaking to MT, ABI Khosato stated that a roll call had been scheduled for 4:00 pm. “He had reportedly gone out around 3:30 pm to have tea,” Khosato said.
When Imlikumzuk did not report for roll call, attempts were made to contact him, but his phone was found to be unresponsive. This prompted a search operation by fellow personnel.
It was later discovered that his mobile phone and wallet had been left behind in his room, raising concern among the team.
“During the search, a local informed us that a Naga jawan had been killed on the railway track,” Khosato said. Upon reaching the location with the help of locals, the personnel found that Imlikumzuk was suspected to have been run over by a train.
Officials informed that the body is being transported to his native place in Changtongya after reaching Dimapur.
