District Hospital Kiphire, in collaboration with the Fire Service and Home Guard and Civil Defence Kiphire, has conducted its first convergence fire evacuation drill to strengthen emergency preparedness and safety measures.

The exercise was organised to enhance the safety of patients and medical staff while improving contingency mechanisms and evacuation procedures during emergencies. Officials said the drill focused on ensuring coordinated response among different agencies in the event of a fire or similar crisis.

The hospital authorities stated that the successful conduct of the drill demonstrated the effectiveness of the existing Disaster Management Plan and increased awareness among staff in handling critical situations. The initiative aimed to reinforce safety protocols and create a more secure environment for patient care and treatment.

As part of the exercise, hospital personnel were given hands-on training in the use of fire safety equipment, including fire hydrants, hose reel systems, and fire extinguishers.

Officials noted that such drills are essential for building preparedness and ensuring quick and efficient response during emergencies.
