Nagaland Advisor for Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, on Monday urged Gaon Buras (GBs) to serve society with courage, integrity and dignity.

He was addressing the General Meeting of the Chokri Area GB’s Union (CAGBU) held at CAPO Hall, Rihuba, under Phek district.
Khamo highlighted the evolution of village administration and said GBs have assumed a dignified role carrying immense respect and responsibility in society. He said the red coat worn by GBs symbolises their responsibilities as custodians of the community overseeing social affairs and public welfare.
Describing GBs as guardians and protectors of the clan, khel and society, Khamo urged them to uphold their office with honesty and integrity while safeguarding the interests of the people. He also stressed the need to respect and honour GBs as custodians of values and traditions, adding that their role remains vital for the progress of society.
Sharing his vision for the development of the Chokri area, Khamo emphasised the need to bring the region at par with the rest of the state and sought cooperation and unity from the people to advance development initiatives.
Expressing concern over growing polarisation within Naga society, he called on people to remain grounded in their traditions and heritage. He said money alone cannot solve every issue and stressed rational thinking in socio-political matters alongside Christian values, honesty, courage and integrity.
Khamo further said Article 371(A) provides special protection and privileges to Nagaland and should be upheld and strengthened.
Meanwhile, Chokri Area Public Organisation (CAPO) President Vepozoyi Theyo urged GBs to uphold justice with integrity and remain impartial irrespective of status or affiliation. A speech was also delivered by Hünietsü Vero, Head GB of Pfutsero Town.
