A two-day training programme for officers of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat was conducted from May 8 to 9, focusing on mental well-being, soft skills and legislative drafting.

Training programme for Assembly

The programme was organised in partnership with INRIS INDIA Foundation and MIND India and was inaugurated by Secretary of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Khruohituonuo Rio. Around 40 officers from different cadres of the Assembly Secretariat participated in the training.

On the first day, resource persons from MIND India, Guwahati, conducted sessions on mental health and workplace skills. Counselling Psychologist and President of MIND India Guwahati, Dr Sangeeta Goswami, spoke on mental well-being, stress management and positive mental health practices for officers.

Chief Operating Officer of Zemidi and Consultant to MIND India Guwahati, Deepankar Bhattacharya, led sessions on soft skills, including communication, interpersonal effectiveness and professional conduct within legislative environments.

On the second day, retired Commissioner and Secretary and Legal Consultant, Benjamin Newmai, delivered a session on legislative drafting. The session focused on principles, processes and best practices in drafting legislation to strengthen officers’ technical proficiency in legislative work. According to the organisers, the training aimed to equip officers with practical tools to manage workplace stress, improve communication and team coordination, and enhance clarity and precision in legislative drafting.

The programme also sought to strengthen personal resilience and professional competence essential for effective functioning within the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
