Team Nagaland secured three gold medals and a bronze at the 4th National Arm Wrestling Championship held in Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, from May 29 to June 2.

Representing the state under the Arm Wrestling Association of Nagaland (AWAN), the team competed against athletes from across the country and delivered a strong performance on the national stage.

Avilie Zuyie emerged as one of Nagaland’s standout performers, winning gold medals in the 100 kg Youth Right Arm and 100 kg Youth Left Arm categories. Zuyie also claimed the Champion of Champions title in the Youth category.

Vethozo Lohe added another gold medal for the state by winning the 85 kg Senior Right Arm category, while Seyievil Vitsu secured a bronze medal in the 75 kg Youth category.

The Nagaland contingent comprised Kishore Sonar, Mekato M. Yeptho, Subhadeep Mukherjee, Inamul Rahman, Aryan Borah, Anontho Kumar Koch, Karan Singh, Seyievil Vitsu, Avilie Zuyie, Vethozo Lohe and Kevilhou Kevin Chasie.

Congratulating the athletes on their achievements, the Arm Wrestling Association of Nagaland said the medals reflected the dedication and hard work of the state’s arm wrestlers and highlighted the growing presence of Nagaland in the sport.
