The Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC) has expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of several key roads in Dimapur and Niuland, alleging that some recently repaired and newly constructed stretches have already developed potholes and damaged sections.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the DDCC highlighted the road stretch from Purana Bazaar to Supermarket, stating that it has deteriorated significantly despite having undergone repair and development recently. The committee said the condition of the road raises questions regarding the quality of workmanship and the proper utilization of public funds.

The DDCC also drew attention to the road leading to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office at Purana Bazaar, describing its condition as poor despite being an important administrative route used by government officials and members of the public.

The committee further pointed to the condition of Niuland Road, alleging that the recently constructed road has already developed numerous potholes and damaged stretches, making travel unsafe and uncomfortable for commuters.

Calling for immediate intervention, the DDCC urged the concerned authorities, including the Public Works Department and the district administration, to undertake repair and restoration works without delay.

The committee also sought a thorough assessment of the quality of construction and accountability from contractors wherever substandard work is found.

Stating that residents deserve safe and durable road infrastructure, the DDCC urged the government to take prompt action to address the issues in the interest of the public.
