Mokokchung district is gearing up for Census 2027, with the House Listing phase scheduled to be conducted from July 1 to 31 and authorities urging residents to participate in the ongoing self-enumeration exercise.
The preparations were reviewed during a consultative meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Mokokchung, on June 22 to boost awareness and ensure stakeholder participation in the census operation.
Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma said the census serves as the foundational database for national planning, policy formulation, resource allocation and implementation. He noted that Census 2026 will be India’s first census conducted in a fully digital mode and urged officials and stakeholders to focus on accurate data collection while promoting self-enumeration among the public.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Atsungba Walling informed the meeting that training programmes for master trainers, field trainers, supervisors and enumerators have already been completed.
He said the House Listing phase, scheduled from July 1 to 31, will consist of 33 questions, while the Population Enumeration phase will commence in February 2027.
For Mokokchung district, 13 Charge Officers, 83 supervisors, including 10 kept in reserve, and 447 enumerators have been deployed for the census exercise.
Walling also highlighted the ongoing self-enumeration phase, which began on June 16 and will continue until June 30. He said the online process takes less than five minutes to complete and called on community leaders and stakeholders to spread awareness to ensure that no household is left out.
Senior Superintendent of Police Vesupra Kezo reminded officials that all information collected during the census is protected under the Census of India Act, 1948, and cautioned against the unauthorized disclosure of personal data.
The meeting concluded with an interactive session during which officials responded to queries from participants and conducted a live demonstration of the self-enumeration portal.
Residents can complete self-enumeration through the official census portal before the June 30 deadline.
