In observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026, a youth awareness rally and wellness programme is scheduled to be held in Mokokchung on June 30. The event is being organised by the Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation (RERF), a sister organisation of the Brahma Kumaris, in collaboration with 12 Assam Rifles, Mokokchung, under the theme, “Drug Abuse Prevention and Value-Based Living.”
The formal programme will commence at 10:00 am at the Assam Rifles Ground, Mokokchung. Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, will attend the programme as the chief guest. Dr Swapan Gupta, a senior neurologist and narcotics specialist from New Delhi, will be the guest speaker and will share insights into the medical and psychological impacts of substance abuse.
Following the introductory session, the awareness rally will be flagged off from the Assam Rifles Ground. Participants will march through the town and conclude at Police Point near Ao Baptist Church, Mokokchung. The rally aims to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and promote healthy, value-based lifestyles.
The organisers have invited the public, including students, youth organisations and members of the media, to participate in and support the community health initiative.
