The Nagaland government has appointed MLA A Pongshi Phom as Advisor to the Chief Minister with the responsibility of overseeing and coordinating matters relating to airways and railways.

According to a notification issued by Cabinet Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen on July 2, the appointment takes immediate effect.
The notification stated that the arrangement has been made to utilise the “vast and practical experience” of the legislator for the benefit of the public.
As Advisor, Phom will render advice on matters referred to him by the concerned department. His views and suggestions will be considered before proposals are placed before the minister in charge for a decision.
The notification clarified that the Advisor will not be entitled to any additional pay, salary, emoluments, remuneration or other perks from the Government of Nagaland beyond what is admissible to him as a Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly through the Assembly Secretariat.
Phom represents the 50 Longleng AC and was elected on an NCP ticket. Later he joined the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party before merging with Naga People’s Front and he now represents the NPF in the state assembly.
