Axis Bank on Friday inaugurated its new branch at Chunlikha in Tseminyu district, expanding banking access under the Government’s initiative to provide financial services in unbanked blocks.

Speaking at the inauguration, Vice President and Cluster Head, Dimapur Cluster, Poujaulung said the Chunlikha branch was opened under the directives of the Department of Financial Services (DFS), the Government of Nagaland and the Finance Department. He said Axis Bank now has 18 branches and 25 ATMs across eight districts in Nagaland.

He stated that the Chunlikha branch is a full-fledged banking outlet offering savings and current accounts, fixed deposits, loans, investment and insurance products, digital banking services and government-sponsored schemes. “Financial literacy camps will also be conducted across all the villages under Chunlikha Block,” he said.

Deputy Commissioner of Tseminyu, Japheth Woch, welcomed the opening of the branch, saying it would enable residents to access banking services, digital banking, loan facilities and government schemes closer to home.

He highlighted the role of banks in promoting entrepreneurship and economic development by extending financial support to entrepreneurs, self-help groups, students and individuals.

Representatives of the Chunlikha Village Council thanked Axis Bank for establishing the branch and assured the bank of the community’s full support for its growth and long-term sustainability.
