The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has warned of thunderstorms, lightning and rain across several parts of the state from August 11 to 14, with residents in low-lying, foothill and riverine areas advised to remain alert for possible flooding, waterlogging, flash floods and landslides.
According to the district-wise weather outlook issued by the NSDMA, localized thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by light rain are likely at scattered locations across several districts on August 11.
On August 12, thunderstorms and lightning are expected in districts including Kiphire, Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon, Niuland, Tseminyu and Wokha, while Dimapur and Longleng may receive light to moderate rain at scattered locations.
Light to moderate rain is likely at scattered locations across parts of the state on August 13, with thunderstorms and lightning forecast in Longleng, Mon, Niuland, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Wokha.
On August 14, localized thunderstorms and lightning with light to moderate rain are likely in Longleng, Mokokchung, Tseminyu, Wokha and Mon, while other parts of the state may also receive light rain.
The NSDMA has advised motorists to exercise caution on hilly and landslide-prone stretches and avoid crossing swollen streams or waterlogged roads.
Residents have also been urged to stay updated with official weather advisories through the NSDMA Weather website and the SAFER Nagaland App.
