The Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) has directed all meat and fish stalls operating within its jurisdiction to clearly display rate boards showing the current rates fixed by the council.

In a notice issued on August 25, MMC ADC and Chief Executive Officer Atsungba Walling said the rate boards must be prominently displayed inside the respective shops and stalls for the information and convenience of consumers.

The council said the measure is intended to enable consumers to ascertain the applicable rates and ensure transparency in the sale of meat and fish within the municipal jurisdiction.

Stall and shop owners have also been directed to keep the rate boards clearly visible and update them whenever the council revises the rates.

The MMC warned that failure to comply with the notice would invite penalties as deemed appropriate by the council.

For complaints, queries or further information, the council has provided the contact numbers of Enforcement Inspector Moasunep (8131063862) and F/A Sentiyapang (8787882791).

The notice has been issued for strict compliance as well as public information.
