The U16 ASMITA Football League for Women 2026-27 was organised by the Peren District Football Association (PDFA) at the Turf Ground, Jalukie, on August 29, under the direction of the Nagaland Football Association (NFA), in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Khelo India.
The league is part of the ASMITA programme, or Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring Women through Action, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. It aims to promote women’s football at the grassroots level by providing young players regular opportunities to compete, develop skills and gain match experience.
Six teams participated in the Jalukie edition, which also served as a selection trial for the Nagaland state team for the Dr Talimeren Ao Junior Girls’ National Football Championship 2026-27. The championship is scheduled from September 10 to October 7 in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and Narainpur, Chhattisgarh.
Officials and coaches deputed by the NFA conducted the selection process during the league to identify promising players for the state team.
In the final, Football Plus Academy, Jalukie defeated Kingdom Stewards FC, Jalukie, 1-0 to emerge champions.
