The School of Engineering and Technology, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema, conducted an Idea Presentation as part of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) on September 3.
A total of 12 teams participated, presenting solutions to problem statements covering healthcare, tourism, education, agriculture, disaster management, entrepreneurship, land records and railway operations.
The proposed solutions included an AI-assisted early detection system for osteoarthritis risk markers in the Northeast, a flash flood prediction system for hilly regions, an AI-based landslide risk monitoring system, an AI-driven scheme-matching platform for marginalised entrepreneurs and an intelligent land record digitisation system.
Other ideas focused on smart education, an AI-enabled learning platform, a digital capacity-building and learning management portal, an AI-powered assistant for Indian Standards and BIS services, a procurement system for farmers and AI-powered automatic block planning for Indian Railways.
Each team comprised six members, including at least one female member. The presentations were evaluated by a three-member panel comprising Assistant Professors Er Shanchamo Yanthan, Er Akangjungshi Longkumer and Er Sudipta Patowary.
Selected teams will undergo further screening through the SIH portal. Qualifying teams will represent the university at the national SIH Grand Finale scheduled for December 2026.
