The District Youth Resources & Sports (DYRS) Office, Mokokchung has announced that the Mokokchung District Level Youth Festival will be held on September 23, featuring competitions in folk song, folk dance and declamation.
The festival is open to individuals, clubs, cultural troupes, higher secondary schools and colleges across Mokokchung district. Interested participants have been asked to submit a letter of interest to the DYRS Office by September 21.
Participants must be between 15 and 29 years of age. Winners at the district level will undergo an online screening, following which the best eight individuals or teams in each event from across Nagaland will be selected to represent their districts at the State Level Youth Festival in Kohima.
Selected state-level participants will arrive in Kohima on September 28, compete on September 29 and depart on September 30. Aadhaar cards must be presented during state-level registration, while TA/DA will be reimbursed according to government-approved rates.
In the folk dance competition, teams may have up to 10 members and may comprise boys, girls or a mixed group. Performances must be traditional folk dances, with ballets prohibited. The performance is limited to 15 minutes, with five additional minutes for stage setup. Live musical accompaniment is mandatory. Teams must submit three copies of a brief note explaining the theme and song text during registration.
The folk song competition requires traditional Indian folk songs in any regional language. Film songs and medleys are not permitted. Performances are limited to seven minutes, with up to five minutes for setup.
The declamation competition is a solo event on the theme, “Youth, Skills and a Self-Reliant Nagaland”. Participants may speak only in English or Hindi and will have up to five minutes.
