Nagaland recorded a year-on-year wholesale price inflation of 3.94% during the January-March quarter of 2026, with price pressures led by Primary Articles, according to the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) released by the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Nagaland.
The State WPI, with 2012 as the base year, stood at 173.26 during the quarter. Primary Articles recorded the highest year-on-year inflation at 4.20%, followed by Fuel and Power at 3.20% and Manufactured Products at 1.16%.
The index showed a steady upward movement through the quarter. The overall WPI increased by 0.55% month-on-month in February and 0.56% in March, rising from 172.31 in January to 173.26 in February and 174.23 in March.
Among the major groups, Primary Articles rose 0.49% in February and 0.58% in March. Fuel and Power recorded the highest monthly increase among the groups in February at 1.27%, before rising 0.23% in March. Manufactured Products increased 0.21% in February and accelerated to 0.76% in March.
Within Primary Articles, Food Articles recorded a quarterly index of 175.98, while Non-Food Articles and Minerals stood at 167.24 and 181.50 respectively. Under Fuel and Power, Woodfuel recorded a quarterly index of 167.34, followed by Mineral Oils at 154.41 and Electricity at 160.07.
Among Manufactured Products, Food Products recorded a quarterly index of 145.41, while Furniture stood at 177.57 and Textiles at 146.38.
The Directorate said the WPI data indicated sustained wholesale price pressure during the quarter, particularly in the Primary Articles sector.
