The Atoizu Town Council, led by chairperson Kitoli Naje, felicitated Atoizu Primary Health Centre (PHC), led by its lone medical officer, Dr. Gihuka Chishi, for achieving National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification.

AAM-PHC Atoizu secured an overall score of 91.12% in the external assessment conducted on July 10 and 11, 2026. The certification was communicated by the National Health Systems Resource Centre on October 5.
However, concerns have been raised over staff shortages at the facility, including a shortage of nursing personnel and medical officers, as well as a vacant pharmacist’s post following the retirement of the previous incumbent.
The PHC reportedly operates round the clock with only two nurses and one medical officer, despite its 24-hour service requirements. The staffing constraints highlight the need for continued support to sustain quality healthcare delivery in Atoizu.
