AICC observer Pranav Shagotra held a consultative meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Zunheboto on Thursday, with Congress leaders calling for transparency and proper verification to ensure that no eligible voter is excluded.

The meeting was led by Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) general secretary Yanchamo Ovung and Zunheboto District Congress Committee president Vikato Zhimo, and attended by senior Congress leaders, party officials and workers.
Addressing the gathering, Shagotra highlighted the campaign led by Rahul Gandhi against alleged “Vote Chori” and raised concerns over electoral transparency and the functioning of the Election Commission of India under Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
He stressed that every eligible citizen must be able to exercise the constitutional right to vote without fear, discrimination or unnecessary obstacles. He also urged party workers to remain vigilant during the SIR process, raise public awareness and help eligible voters ensure their names remain on the electoral rolls.
The discussions emphasised accountability and thorough verification during the revision process to protect the democratic rights of voters.
Shagotra also appealed to the people of Nagaland, civil society members and others committed to democratic values to join Rahul Gandhi at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on November 1 as part of the “Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao” campaign.
The meeting reaffirmed the Nagaland Congress’s commitment to safeguarding voting rights, demanding electoral accountability and protecting the integrity of democratic institutions.
