The Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH) has called for greater entrepreneurship, business collaboration and economic self-reliance within the Chakhesang community at its Community Business Meet 2026 held at the Mission Centre of the Western Chakhesang Baptist Church Council, Kozabe, Chümoukedima district, on Saturday.

Hosted by Kudecho Khamo, MLA and Advisor for Civil Administration Works Division, the meet was organised under the theme “Economic Self-Reliance and Entrepreneurship,” bringing together entrepreneurs, business owners, professionals and aspiring business leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Khamo urged aspiring entrepreneurs to prioritise integrity, honesty and customer trust, while conducting market research and identifying business opportunities. He called for greater financial literacy, proper planning and partnerships, urging the community to move beyond dependence on government employment and harness its human resources and traditional strengths.
He also stressed the importance of discipline, sacrifice and a strong work ethic, while preserving cultural identity and Christian values.
A plenary session on “Interaction and Way Forward” discussed business experiences, emerging opportunities, challenges and potential collaborations. Moderated by Elizabeth Dozo Semp, principal of Great Commission Higher Secondary School, and entrepreneur and social worker Elijah Pfuno, the session featured entrepreneur and social worker Vepozo Dozo, Azolo Nuh of Kee Space, businessman Akho Kezo and entrepreneur Werite Kevichusa.
The meet also showcased “Bubble Soft,” a homemade, chemical-free soap venture presented by Sapralu Nyekha, joint secretary of the Western Chakhesang Mother’s Association, highlighting grassroots entrepreneurship.
The gathering adopted two resolutions: revitalising the Western Chakhesang Business Association and making the business summit an annual event.
The initiative aimed to strengthen business networks and promote collective enterprise and sustainable economic development within the community.
