The Ao Senden and four allied organisations have resolved to continue their agitation over demands concerning the staffing situation at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung, while allowing a three-day relaxation of the ongoing closure of the Chief Medical Officer’s (CMO) office on humanitarian grounds.

The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the Ao Senden, All Ward Union Mokokchung Town (AWUMT), Watsü Mungdang, Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) and Ao Lanur Telungjem (ALT) at the Aor Kilem.

In a communication to the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung dated November 3, the organisations stated that the closure of the CMO office would be relaxed from November 5 to 7 to facilitate child immunisation and medication.

The joint meeting also resolved that all detachment and joining reports relating to the transfer and posting of doctors and nurses at IMDH must be completed by November 13.

The organisations referred to the 14-day period provided under Health and Family Welfare Department Notification No. MED-3A/1/2006(PT)/696 dated October 30 for completing the handing and taking over process.

Warning of further escalation if the requirements are not fulfilled, the organisations announced that a public rally would be held in Mokokchung town on November 16, following which the agitation would be intensified.

The latest resolution comes after the Ao Senden, in its October 31 communication to the Health and Family Welfare Department, appreciated the posting of a radiologist to IMDH but maintained that the agitation would continue until doctors and nurses attached from the hospital were reverted and those transferred and posted to IMDH submitted their joining reports.

The Ao Senden had earlier demanded the restoration of specialist services, the return of attached medical personnel and the shifting of hospital services to the newly constructed Block A of IMDH.

The November 3 communication was signed by Ao Senden president Marsanen Imsong, AWUMT president Lemasashi, Watsü Mungdang president Tianaro Jamir, AKM president Lanulemba Longchar and ALT vice president Tinukaba.
