Mokokchung, July 1 (MTNews): Jubilee Memorial College Art and Photography Club conducted a “Comic Making Workshop” with Asen A. Jamir as the resource person on Friday. The workshop was a component of the Club’s summer project. The resource person led the participants in a lesson on the fundamentals of creating comics, focusing on grassroots comics.

 

“Grassroots comics are different from the mainstream comics. These comics are made by common people which is inexpensive and follows a very simple method. These comics are widely used by organizations and local activist to convey issues and problems and are understood very easily,” said Asen A. Jamir. She also added that grassroots comics are close to reality and are produced using normal A4 size paper and photocopy machine.

 

Lanutemjen Longkumer, Convenor, JMC Art & Photography club thanked all the participants and congratulated them for learning a new art and also the resource person for availing her time and making the club’s summer project a success.

 

The workshop was divided into three different sessions and was attended by ten participants including cartoonists from different local dailies.
