Mokokchung, July 12 (MTNews): Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh IAS, has in an order informed that loud speakers or public address system shall not be used except after obtaining written permission from the authority. It was also informed that loud speakers or public address systems shall not be used at night between 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM except in closed premises for communication within. e.g – auditorium, conference rooms, community halls and banquet halls or during a public emergency.

 

Further, it was informed that the noise level at the boundary of the public place, where loudspeaker or public address system or any other noise source is being used shall not exceed 10 dB (A) above the ambient noise standards for the area or 75 dB (A) whichever is lower. “The peripheral noise level of a privately owned sound system or sound producing instrument shall not, at the boundary of the private place, exceed by t more than 5 dB (a) the ambient noise standards specified for the area in which it is used,” the order added.

 

The order was issued for strict compliance in pursuance of the Nagaland Pollution Control Board Letter No.NPCB/Noise-2/3115, Dated 28th June, 2022 and as per Rules 2 (c) of the Noise Pollution (Regulation & Control) Rules, 2000 and Government of Nagaland Notification No.FOR/GEN 46/95(Pt-IV) Dated 27th April, 2009 and in accordance to Section 5 of Noise pollution (Regulation & Control) Rules, 2000.
