Kohima, July 30 (MTNews): Governor of Nagaland and Assam, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi flagged off the Jotsoma – Khonoma BRO road at a flagging off ceremony held at Khonoma on Saturday.

 

 

Speaking at the event, Mukhi said that Jotsoma–Khonoma road is expected to establish new benchmarks of functional efficiency and operational purpose for the villages and neighboring districts. He also pointed out that the particular stretch of road should be the best in the state and a role model for all other roads in terms of quality and completion time.

 

He further stated that this particular BRO project will be under the supervision of Raj Bhavan and directed that rehabilitation works should be completed by strictly adhering to the specification mentioned in the project. He further requested the organization for early completion in a period of five months.

 

Earlier, Mukhi also commended on the natural beauty and the enormous potential of the great village which is so poignant and self-evident. He was happy to learn that this village was the last place where the Naga warriors had the last stand against the British way back in the year 1879. He also applauded the community for their initiative, leading to be the first Green Village in India and further maintained that Khonoma is gradually gaining a lot of popularity as an ideal place for adventure and nature study, and has also become a model village for eco-tourism.

 

MLA & Chairman, DPDB Kohima, Keneizhakho Nakhro in his short address acknowledged the initiative of the Governor for the project and expressed that this special package is a remarkable achievement for the people of Jotsoma and Khonoma village. He mentioned that the long desire for a sustainable road was the dream of the community which has been flagged off today and was grateful that the Governor has shown concern in fulfilling the aspiration and desire of the people.

 

Nakhro also assured that the community will commit and stand to provide the best cooperation and utmost support to the organization and the contractors.

 

Officiating Chief Engineer Sewak, US Nagwansi briefed on the project. Earlier in the program, Chairman, Khonoma Village Council delivered the welcome address while short speeches were delivered by Chairman, Jotsoma Village Council and President, Western Angami Public Organization.
