Wokha, July 16 (MTNews): The Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Nagaland on July 8 released fingerlings in Doyang Reservoir, Wokha.

 

The District Fishery Officer of Wokha, Rulanthung Ezung stated that with the initiative of Rongsennungba, Director of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Nagaland about 4 lakh of fingerlings consisting of fish species Rohu, Mrigal, Silver Carp, Grass Carp and Common Carp were stocked in the reservoir under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme PMMSY.

 

Stocking of fingerlings is the mainstay of reservoir fisheries developments which will facilitate fish production on a sustainable basis, stated a DIPR report.
The DFO Wokha also stated as Doyang Reservoir falls under medium reservoirs where auto stocking is not possible and requires a regular stocking programme to use the productive potential of the water body.
