Mokokchung, 30 August (MTNews): Imkong L Imchen, the Advisor for Soil & Water Conservation and Information & Public Relations, along with officials from the Soil & Water Conservation Department, met with the Union Minister for Agriculture, Narendra Singh Tomar, at his office in Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi on 29 August. During the meeting, an overview of the various activities undertaken by the department in the state was provided.

Imchen also appealed to the Minister to consider a proposal that had been submitted to the Ministry, emphasizing its importance for the state of Nagaland. Additionally, the department’s officials highlighted the ongoing implementation of Central Schemes within the state and presented a new project proposal for the current financial year.

When asked about the proposals, Imchen told Mokokchung Times that certain project proposals need to be submitted to the central government because Nagaland lacks the resources to undertake or finance them independently. As a result, there is significant dependence on the government of India for various project proposals.

“These proposals consist of numerous guidelines and procedures, so they can only be well understood when we thoroughly review the detailed papers. We intend to share those details at the appropriate time,” he said.

Regarding the possibility of a civic reception for CM Rio in Mokokchung, which was resolved by the Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) in July, Imchen stated that Tongpang Ozukum, Advisor for Water Resources in the Government of Nagaland and Chairman of DPDB Mokokchung, would have a better understanding of the details and status.

“However, it is expected that he will be working on it,” Imchen added. Imchen also expressed his view that since the Chief Minister is for the entire state of Nagaland, it would be beneficial to have the Chief Minister visit the district so that Mokokchung citizens can also address their local grievances.

He also mentioned that he had also met with Pankaj Kumar, IAS, the Secretary of Jal Shakti, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Rajeev Chandra Shekhar, and other high-ranking bureaucrats from the ministry.
