The landowners of District Youth Resources & Sports Office, Mokokchung, have decided to suspend their planned agitation starting today, following a resolution reached during a meeting held on November 21. The meeting included representatives from the administration, the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Village Council Ungma, and the landowners.


As per the resolution, the current appointment of the Night Chowkidar/MTS at the District Youth Resources Office will be cancelled and replaced with the appointment of a landowner. Additionally, the Department of Youth Resources & Sports has committed to upholding the 1993 agreement made between the landowners and the Government of Nagaland.

It may be noted that on November 20, a meeting was held in the office of the Commissioner, Nagaland, under the chairmanship of the Additional Commissioner, regarding the shutdown of the District Youth Resources Office in Mokokchung by the landowners.

During this meeting, the department stated that it is currently in the process of vacating the MTS post at the DSO office, against which an appointment had already been made, as per the request of the landowners in their representation to the Department.

The Department of Youth Resources & Sports also extended its appreciation to the landowners of Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung, for their magnanimity in donating the land, which has benefited the public of Mokokchung district immensely over the years.
