The Ao Senden, the apex body representing the Ao Naga community, has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the ongoing repair work on the V.K. Town to Doyang stretch of National Highway 61, describing the use of mud to fill potholes as an “insulting action” by the Public Works Department (National Highways).
In a letter addressed to the Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, who also oversees the Planning & Transformation and National Highways departments, the Ao Senden criticized the repair work as “the dirtiest trick” played on their organization following their ultimatum demanding immediate repairs.
The letter highlighted the organization’s expectations for repair work to be conducted “in right earnest and as technically feasible,” emphasizing the need for durable and responsible measures. Failure to meet these standards within the 30-day ultimatum period, the letter warned, would compel the Ao Senden to take “its own course of action” without accepting responsibility for potential consequences.
The Ao Senden has urged the Deputy Chief Minister to intervene and direct the concerned department to undertake proper repair works reflective of a “responsible Government’s Department” and befitting the welfare of the public.
Expressing hope in the Deputy Chief Minister’s “dynamic leadership,” the organization called for timely and appropriate action to address the issue for the benefit of all affected communities.
