Advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, conducted an on-site inspection today of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) road project connecting Doyang in Wokha district to Mangmetong village in Mokokchung district. Expressing concern over the sluggish progress, Yanthan took to social media to highlight serious delays and the inadequate mobilization of resources at the construction site.
“To my dismay, I observed that the progress is much behind schedule, with limited construction activity, slow work pace, and inadequate mobilization of manpower and machinery. If this issue is not urgently addressed, it may delay the project significantly,” he stated.
During the inspection, the Advisor interacted with contractors, department officials, and local villagers. He emphasized the urgent need to accelerate construction, improve resource deployment, and adhere strictly to the project timeline. Stressing the strategic importance of the road, he urged all concerned agencies to take immediate corrective action to ensure quality and timely completion.
“This road is vital for the well-being of the local population,” Yanthan noted.
Following the inspection, Yanthan also visited Mangmetong village, where he engaged with village council members and farmers. The discussion focused on improving agricultural productivity, adopting improved farming practices, and building resilient rural livelihoods. He praised the progressive mindset of the farmers of Mangmetong, a village that shares deep-rooted, cordial, and time-honoured relationship with the neighbouring Lotha villages.
“With the right blend of technical guidance, material support, and motivation, I am confident they can lead the way in transforming agriculture and securing sustainable growth for the region,” Yanthan remarked of Mangmetong farmers.
He further appreciated the villagers’ warm hospitality and expressed his desire to strengthen closer cooperation, particularly with Lotha villages like Okotso under his constituency, and work towards a more prosperous future.
