With the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) set to declare its examination results on April 24, the Ao Kaketshir Telungjem Guwahati (AKTG) has cautioned students and parents against a rise in fraudulent activities targeting those seeking admission and accommodation outside the state.

In a statement, AKTG said multiple cases have been reported in recent years involving scams related to rental accommodations such as paying guest (PG) facilities and hostels, as well as false promises of securing college admissions and scholarships.

The union noted that following the declaration of results, many students from Nagaland travel to Guwahati and other cities for higher education, a period during which individuals and groups posing as agents or intermediaries often exploit students and parents through misleading information, fake assurances, and financial demands.

Advising vigilance, AKTG urged students and guardians to verify all information through official college and institutional websites and to avoid dealing with unknown agents or third parties claiming to facilitate admissions or accommodation.

It further stressed the need to cross-check details before making any financial transactions and encouraged direct contact with concerned institutions or recognised student bodies.

“For the safety and well-being of our students, we encourage the Naga community to reach out to the respective unions for assistance, clarification, or verification,” the statement said, adding that students may also connect through AKTG’s official communication channels.

Maintaining that approaching recognised student bodies remains one of the most reliable ways to access accurate information, AKTG called on the public to remain vigilant and informed to prevent exploitation.

The statement was issued by AKTG President Watilong T Jamir and Information Secretary Lipoksanen Longkumer.
