The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has expressed “deep concern” over the transfer order issued by the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare on August 1, 2025, affecting Dr. Rongsenneken, Junior Specialist (General Surgery), who has been overseeing the Chest Disease & TB Hospital, Mokokchung, in the absence of a dedicated Medical Officer.
In a statement, AKM described the Mokokchung TB Hospital as “a 50-bedded facility and one of the district’s most critical institutions in the fight against tuberculosis, catering not only to Mokokchung but also to neighbouring districts.”
While acknowledging that it “respects administrative procedures,” the student body maintained that “enforcing the transfer without first appointing a suitable replacement will severely disrupt essential healthcare services and jeopardize the continuity of patient treatment.”
“We therefore reiterate our stand that the AKM will not allow the transfer of Dr Rongsenneken without a replacement,” the statement read, adding that “a replacement — preferably a Medical Officer — must be appointed and assume duty before the transfer is effected.”
AKM further urged the Department of Health & Family Welfare “to ensure uninterrupted treatment and care for TB patients by retaining the current doctor until a successor is in place.”
