The Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) has issued a public alert expressing serious concern over ongoing reports of alleged kidnapping cases in and around Dimapur and Kohima. While the full details of these incidents are yet to be confirmed, AKS stated that the nature of these reports is alarming and warrants urgent public awareness and preventive action.
In a press statement issued on Monday, AKM cited Mokokchung’s proximity to Assam and the ease of movement across inter-district and interstate routes as cause for heightened caution.
“Given that Mokokchung shares a border with Assam and considering the ease of inter-district and interstate movement, we urge the general public, especially students, parents, educational institutions, youth organizations, and village authorities to remain on high alert,” stated AKM President Lanutoshi Aier and General Secretary Satemmongba.
The organization appealed to citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity, unfamiliar individuals or vehicles, or abnormal movements in their localities to the nearest police station or institution or contact the AKM office directly at +91 70057 40523 or +91 88374 86276.
Describing the alert as a precautionary call to action, AKM urged the people of Mokokchung to “stay alert, stay safe.”
