Alempang Ward was adjudged winner of the 5th Inter-Ward Beat Contest (Battle of the Bands) on December 22, 2023, held at Town Hall, Mokokchung organized by Temulunger Telok. The runner-up position went to Sangtemla Ward.
The beat contest was held in the afternoon and the toop-4 were selected to perform in the finale that took place in the evening along with a concert featuring Tiameren Aier, and Toshi Aier and the Band.
Meanwhile, the various individual awards were declared as follows:
Best Vocalist: Abina Jamir, Alempang Ward
Best Bassist: Bendangakum, Sungkomen Ward
Best Guitarist: Topeto Achumi, Majakong Ward
Best Drummer: Imsongti, Alempang Ward
Most Promising Drummer: Talimerenla, Sangtemla Ward
This is the third time that Alempang Ward has won the Inter-Ward Beat Contest. After winning the inaugural edition in 2016, Alempang Ward repeated the feat by winning the title in 2019. The 4th Inter Ward Beat Contest held in 2019 was the last contest held before the pandemic.
