Chaired by Dr Sarendi Walling, ACTO Animal Science, the program began with an introduction to the importance of Mission LiFE. Dr Walling emphasized the significance of the Kisan Goshthi in providing a platform for farmers to discuss and understand the importance of soil health management.

Imtilemla, ACTO Soil Conservation, highlighted the importance of managing soil health and fertility through Integrated Nutrient Management. She stressed the use of organic manures, green manuring, biofertilizers, and azolla for lowland paddy cultivation, as these practices can improve overall soil health and have long-term beneficial effects on subsequent crops.

Imtilemla also emphasized the significance of soil testing in determining the nutrient status of the soil and the specific needs of crops, thereby preventing the indiscriminate use of nutrients. The participants were shown a demonstration on how to collect quality soil samples for analysis.

She further shared insights on climate-resilient agriculture and acquainted farmers with smart farming techniques that can enhance productivity. The farmers were encouraged to adopt these techniques for improved agricultural outcomes.

A total of 25 farmers participated in the Kisan Goshthi, where they had the opportunity to interact with KVK scientists. The farmers engaged in discussions about the use of different inputs and received extension folders, leaflets, and organic inputs such as biofertilizers, dhaincha seeds, azolla, etc.
