The program commenced with a briefing by Dr Imsongienla RBSK, who shed light on the importance of menstrual hygiene. She emphasized that many girls in the country lack knowledge about menstruation and are unaware of what happens to their bodies when they experience their first menstruation, also known as menarche. The purpose of dedicating a day to menstrual hygiene is to address this issue, she said, which is usually not spoken about, and to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene management.

Following the informative session, sanitary pads were distributed to the attendees. This initiative aimed to ensure that girls and women have access to necessary menstrual hygiene products and can manage their periods in a safe and hygienic manner.

The program was chaired by Dr Takosunep, the District Program Officer for Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) and Universal Immunization Programme (UIP). Several staff members from the Chief Medical Officer’s office were also present, showing their support for the cause.
