Mokokchung, September 29 (MTNews): Following the government’s “indifferent approach” to their demands and with no positive response from the State Government despite the four day sit-in silent protest, the All Nagaland Ad hoc Teachers Group (ANATG) -2015 batch have decided to launch an indefinite hunger strike starting Thursday evening. This was confirmed to Mokokchung Times by the ANATG-2015 spokesperson, Bendangtemsu.

 

He also informed that this decision was taken during a meeting of the entire ANATG-2015 batch members at the NSF Solidarity Park, Kohima on Thursday evening and that, 99% of the protesting teachers has suggested and agreed for the indefinite hunger strike.

 

“After common decision taken by the 1166 (members of ANATG-2015 batch), there will be no more negotiations,” he said, adding that the teachers have shown ‘maximum patience’ any individual can display during the four days of silent protest.

 

“So, basing on the views and suggestion from the 1166, the ANATG-2015 batch is on indefinite hunger strike starting tonight, that is, September 29,” he said.
The teachers have also decided that they will settle for nothing less than regularization of their service.

Meanwhile, the DoSE and the State Government are yet to respond following their Wednesday’s statement that “the department and the government are constrained because of the standing order of the Supreme Court and High Court.”
