Mokokchung, 25 November (MTNews): The Chief Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officer, Mokokchung, Dr BM Sunep, stressed the need to initiate preventive measures before diseases strike. He conveyed this message today at the valedictory program of the three-day intensive training for Animal Health Service Providers for the Angetyongpang Area.
Dr Sunep highlighted that given the occurrence of economically dreaded diseases such as African Swine Fever, it has become imperative for each village to have trained animal health service providers. These providers can impart knowledge on maintaining biosecurity measures and adopting preventive measures before any disease occurs. He added that this initiative will not only generate self-employment but also develop livestock farming in a much better way.
Dr Sunep, also commended the initiative, mentioning that this training was the first of its kind in the state where an elected legislator took the initiative to impart technical training to farmers under his constituency.
Imlitoshi Walling, a member of ADB Mokokchung unit, expressed appreciation and thanks to the Department of AH & Veterinary, Mokokchung, for their sincerity and hard work in imparting practical inputs to the trainees.
Trainee Alinungsang shared experiences on behalf of all the trainees, expressing gratitude for the opportunity and privilege given to them to attend such training. The Resource Persons for the three-day training program were Dr Watitoshi VAS and Dr Nemjemyanger, FM.
An update from DPRO Mokokchung informed that the formation of ADB is the brainchild of Tongpang Ozukum, MLA and Advisor, Water Resources, Government of Nagaland, with the vision to uplift the economic conditions of the people through various training programs, of which the first step is taken in this regard.
The training was organized by the Angetyongpang Development Board (ADB) in collaboration with the office of the Chief AH & Veterinary Officer Mokokchung, held at the Conference Hall, State Poultry Farm, Mokokchung on 25 November 2023.
During this three-day intensive program, a total of 42 persons from the area were trained by the team of officers from AH & Veterinary Department. These trainees will provide services in their respective villages and wards under the active supervision of the Veterinary Department in the District.
The program was chaired by Dr Nemjemyanger, and the DPRO Mokokchung presented certificates to the trainees.
