The National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC) under CMO Peren concluded the observance of Anti Malaria Month on June 30, 2024, under the theme “Accelerating the Fight against Malaria for a More Equitable World.”

Twelve villages were selected by the State NCVBDC for the month-long campaign based on criteria such as low reach, potential malaria susceptibility, and difficult-to-reach areas. In these villages—GMS Samzuiram, GMS Lilen, GMS Ikiesingram, GMS Jalukiezangdi, Besumpuilwa, Songsang, Pelhang, New Ngaulong, Lower Sinjol, Nzauna, and Lalong under Tening Block—IEC/BCC activities focused on Vector Borne Diseases Prevention and Control, emphasizing the availability of free testing and treatment for malaria in government facilities.

Activities included mass fever screenings for malaria, inspections on LLINs usage, and encouraging communities to participate rigorously in source reduction activities, particularly during the monsoon when vector populations peak.

The District Vector Borne Diseases Control Unit Peren, in collaboration with ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA), organized an awareness program on Malaria Elimination at Beisumpuikam village on June 22. Village leaders from Jalukiezangdi also participated, with Dr. Hedungkiebe, District Vector Borne Diseases Control Officer, serving as the program’s special guest and keynote speaker. AIDA, in partnership with NCVBDC Peren, has adopted these two villages for malaria elimination, demonstrating their commitment to a malaria-free environment.

Vimekhrie-u Metsieo, District VBD Consultant, noted that in addition to the 12 selected villages, the district conducted mobile population screening for migrant workers at Pedi and Heunambe, led by Peren block MTS and Surveillance Workers under the block.
