The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has expressed support for the Angami Youth Organization (AYO) and condemned the ongoing illegal taxation and threats to life perpetrated by NSCN/GPRN (Khango). The AKM argues that these actions undermine the rule of law and creates an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among the citizens of the state.

In a statement, the AKM highlighted the detrimental impact of unauthorized taxes and levies imposed by non-state actors. “It is also one of the major reasons, why development in the state has been stagnated,” the statement read. The organization pointed out that such taxation disrupts economic stability and places undue financial burdens on individuals and businesses. The AKM has called on state authorities to take immediate action to stop these illegal practices and restore law and order.

The AKM reiterated its firm stance that no taxation will be allowed within Mokokchung district. The organization also emphasized that no developmental activities should be disrupted by any individuals or groups. “Threats to life and safety are completely unacceptable,” the statement continued. “Every citizen has the right to live without fear of violence or coercion. We call upon the law enforcement agencies to prioritize the protection of all citizens and to ensure that those responsible for these threats are brought to justice”.

Furthermore, the AKM appealed to the community and civil society organizations to reject unlawful demands and support efforts to promote peace, stability, and economic growth in the region. The organization expressed solidarity with the Angami Youth Organization in opposing the prevailing issues and called on all organizations and individuals to unite against these challenges.

AKM stands in solidarity with Angami Youth Organization (AYO) against the evils prevailing in our state, and also make this clarion call to every organisation and right thinking individuals in the state to gather and stand against the same.

The AKM empathized with the Proprietor of KKB Contractor K Rulho, who have been affected by these illegal activities and reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the principles of justice, security, and the rule of law.
