Kohima, 8 December (MTNews): The valedictory program of the 4th edition of the Nagaland Film Festival was graced by Armstrong Pame, IAS, Director (Films) at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The event took place at RCEMPA Jotsoma, Kohima on December 8, 2023. Organized by the Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) of the Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and the Film Association of Nagaland (FAN), the festival celebrated the cinematic achievements of the region.

Armstrong Pame, in his address, urged filmmakers from Northeast India to collaborate across states, emphasizing the need for subtitles or dubbing in different languages or dialects. He highlighted the potential of creativity in today’s society and stressed the importance of recognizing and supporting it for economic growth and livelihoods.

Encouraging the Nagaland government to formulate a film policy, incentivize filmmakers, and promote films beyond state borders, Pame also emphasized the significance of Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC XR) in the film industry.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, is actively focusing on this area, providing training for aspiring individuals, with plans for additional training sessions.

Dzüvinuo Theünuo, Director of the Department of Information and Public Relations, expressed gratitude during the vote of thanks. She acknowledged the five months of planning and coordination that led to the success of the two-day festival. Theünuo thanked the Ministry of I&B for their support and extended appreciation to the esteemed guests, including Director I&B Armstrong Pame, Ambassador Peru Javier Paulinich, and Advisor to CM & Chairman IDAN Abu Metha.

Kivini Shohe, President of the Film Association of Nagaland, remarked in the opening statement that Nagaland should progress beyond traditional film festivals. Shohe highlighted the wealth of untold stories in Nagaland, expressing hope that the festival would inspire a revolution of new ideas. She emphasized the importance of presenting Nagaland’s unique stories in its own style to the world.

Shohe thanked the DIPR for supporting the film fraternity and encouraging youth participation through film competitions.
