Mokokchung, August 30 (MTNews): Three people were detained as part of a major crackdown on the narcotics trade by the Arunachal Police and Dimapur Police, who also confiscated 1.2 kg of heroin valued at Rs 2.36 crores from their hands.

 

Ashraf Hossain Choudhary (age 33), Kamaluddin (age 26), and Shayan Chandra (age 27) were the three individuals who were arrested on Sunday.

 

 

Rahul Gupta, Superintendent of Police (SP) for the East Kameng District, also expressed his gratitude to everyone who took part in the extensive operation.

 

Earlier in July 2022, the security forces detained an accused Apu Venia in accordance with the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

 

It was discovered that Venia purchased heroin (drugs) from the Sonitpur region of Assam. Then, Kameng Police started establishing a supply chain by using technical and financial records.
Kameng police discovered further interstate links while looking into the Apu Venia supply network. The East Kameng police set up a trap and stayed in Karbi Anglong for three days in order to apprehend Ashraf Hossain Chaudhary and learnt his modus operandi.

 

Ashraf Hossain Choudhary was ultimately captured on Sunday morning as part of a planned joint operation with the Dimapur police, and 1200 gms of heroin were taken from his possession.
When it was discovered that a truck had given Ashraf Hossain Choudhary the quantity concealed in 100 soap cases, the truck was seized, and the driver was taken into custody.

 

The bank accounts that were used to transfer drug sales proceeds have also been frozen by the security forces in the interim. Rupees seven lakhs have been frozen thus far from these accounts.
