LADP Common Pool 2025-26 funds drinking water filters for IMDH and four key Mokokchung institutions
Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), one of Mokokchung’s oldest public institutions, received a drinking water filter on Wednesday under the LADP Common Pool 2025-26, as hospital officials also used the occasion to speak about the hospital’s larger needs and aspirations ahead of its 125th anniversary in 2029.

MLA and District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Chairman Nuklutoshi Longkumer inaugurated the water filter at IMDH in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma, Superintendent of Police Vesupra Kezo, doctors, nurses and other officials.
The IMDH unit was one among five drinking water filters installed under the LADP Common Pool 2025–26. The other four were installed at the DC Office, SP Office, Circuit House and Ao Senden Office. According to DPDB planning officer, Rs 6 lakh was allocated for all five units.
Speaking during the program, Dr Kilangwabang Pongener, MD (Medicine) and Senior Specialist at IMDH, thanked the MLA and the Ao Legislators for the installation and said the facility would meet an important daily need for both staff and visitors.
“This was a very necessary requirement during our daily work, and it will fulfill a very basic need for all staff in our hospital and also for every visitor,” he said.
Dr Pongener said that despite being located in a remote part of the Northeast, IMDH serves patients from across Mokokchung, other districts of Nagaland and even beyond.
“We serve anyone who comes through this gate seeking our help,” he said, while noting that the hospital has treated people from different communities, states and even international visitors in emergency cases.
He also spoke about the role of community support in IMDH’s growth over the years, stating that although it is a government hospital, many of its facilities have been strengthened by donations from churches, families, student bodies, youth groups and individuals.
“It is a government hospital, but the community owns it and supports it,” he said, mentioning contributions such as borewells, waiting sheds, prayer rooms and furniture.
Looking ahead to IMDH’s 125th anniversary in 2029, Dr Pongener said the hospital has bigger dreams, including the construction of a grand entrance gate to honor its long history and the legacy of Dr Imkongliba.
“In commemorating this occasion, we have many dreams and aspirations,” he said. “One such dream is the construction of a grand hospital entrance that reflects truly the grandeur of this hospital and also to honor the great man, Dr Imkongliba, whose name we bear”.
